¡¡¡¡UNITED NATIONS, April 30 (Xinhua) -- UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Monday condemned the deadly terrorist attacks in Syria and called for an immediate end to armed violence in all its forms by all parties and full cooperation by all parties with the UN truce observing mission in Syria to stop the 13-month crisis in the Middle East country.

¡¡¡¡"The secretary-general condemns the terrorist bomb attacks in the cities of Idlib and Damascus which took place today and on 27 April 2012, killing and injuring scores of people," said a statement issued here by Ban's spokesman.

¡¡¡¡On April 27, a suicide bomber detonated a bomb in the Syrian capital of Damascus, killing nine people and injuring nearly 30. Three more suicide bombings hit Syria's northern city of Idlib on Monday, causing dozens of casualties.

¡¡¡¡The Monday blasts took place near the headquarters of the civil defense forces in the area, a pro-government news website reported from Damascus, but the report did not give any detail about casualties.

¡¡¡¡The explosions came following a string of bombings that have rocked several areas across Syria over the past three days.

¡¡¡¡The statement noted that violence has continued, even though the UN Supervision Mission in Syria (UNSMIS) has begun deployment, and could potentially send up to 300 unarmed military observers to the country, which has been plunged into a crisis since March2011.

¡¡¡¡"While noting improvements in areas where UN monitors are deployed, the secretary-general remains gravely concerned by reports of continued violence, killing and abuses in Syria in recent days," said the statement.

¡¡¡¡The statement added that Ban calls for an end to violence in Syria, a country that has been plagued by a crisis between the government of President Bashar al-Assad and opposition forces for more than a year.

¡¡¡¡"He calls for armed violence in all its forms by all parties to cease immediately and full cooperation of all parties with the work of UNSMIS as it expands its presence on the ground," the statement said.
